Swan's Drafts

Like the beer it was named after, Swan’s Drafts music is distinctly West Australian. Narratives born from self reflection, nostalgia and Perth idiosyncrasies, songwriter Shawn Cygnus writes from a place of sincerity. Working through a recovery framework, the songs recount real experiences of mental health crisis, drug use, and the fallout of maintained wellness.

Delivering emotionally charged lyrics over the backdrop of lo-fi guitar arpeggios, with roomy drums and production that starts to approach shoegaze territory, exemplified in the new single Gatorade Bong. Recently expanding to a three piece to fully reproduce the feeling of the recordings live, adding bass into the fold. Swan’s Drafts is set to release a full length LP entitled Yangebup in 2026.
