Review: Balu Brigada — Wildlands Boorloo Perth 2026

New Zealand indie rock outfit Balu Brigada hit the Sahara stage as the afternoon heat settled in, bringing a surge of guitar-driven energy just as the crowd was ready for it.

From the opening moments, they leaned into connection. Big hooks, driving rhythms, and a clear intention to pull people closer rather than play over them. Even when minor technical issues crept in, the momentum never dipped — they rode through it with confidence and a sense of fun that kept the set moving forward.

There was something refreshing about how involved they made the audience feel. Call-and-response moments landed easily, heads nodded instinctively, and by mid-set the space in front of the stage had thickened with people committing to staying put.

It was the kind of performance that works perfectly in a festival setting — loud enough to grab attention, tight enough to hold it.

BTN takeaway: Balu Brigada turned a passing crowd into participants and didn’t let them go.
