Review: Miss Kaninna — Wildlands Boorloo Perth 2026

Hailing from Lutruwita/Tasmania and now based in Melbourne, Miss Kaninna took the Sahara stage in the early afternoon as the crowd continued to build — and immediately shifted the atmosphere.

Her set carried weight without heaviness. Multilingual lyrics moved effortlessly between rhythm and meaning, grounding the performance in ancestry, pride, and lived experience. This wasn’t music designed to impress — it was music designed to say something, and the delivery was fearless.

There was a calm authority in the way she held the space. When she spoke between songs, it felt intentional. When she sang, the room listened. A welcome from an Elder added depth and context, reminding everyone present that this was more than entertainment — it was connection.

Despite the growing crowd, it felt like more people should’ve been there. Those who were got something rare: an artist fully formed, standing in her truth, inviting others to do the same.

I may have also gotten so caught up in her music that the crew had to politely boot me out of the media zone!

BTN takeaway: Miss Kaninna doesn’t chase attention — she commands it by being exactly who she is.
